Meet The Owner
My Personal Story
I guess I’ve always had a thing for making vehicles better.
My interest in vehicles started young. I was always fascinated by mechanical things, and around 16, I started fixing my own four-wheelers when they broke. I was completely self-taught—and I realized I didn’t just enjoy fixing them. I loved making them look good, too.
That eventually led me to detailing my own truck. I started researching products, testing different techniques, and answering friends’ questions about detailing. Before I knew it, a hobby had turned into a business.
In the beginning, it was pretty simple: cheap equipment, supplies thrown in the back of my truck, and friends and family as customers.
Today, that setup has turned into a self-built detailing trailer.
From technician to full-time detailer
Before going full-time with Hydro Slick, I spent about two years as a technician at Volkswagen.
Working there taught me a lot about vehicles that you don’t learn from detailing videos—especially how vehicles are built, how different areas react to water, what to be careful around in an engine bay, and how to properly work on interiors.
But even while I was at Volkswagen, I was constantly researching detailing products and working on my business whenever I could.
Eventually, I realized where I wanted to be.
Building the business wasn’t always easy. There was a point where I was constantly working, weekends disappeared, and it started affecting my personal life. I even thought about quitting.
Then someone would call wanting a detail.
And I couldn’t say no.
In my head, saying no felt like losing!
That’s when I realized I couldn’t imagine intentionally walking away from something I’d worked so hard to build.
I left Volkswagen and went full-time with Hydro Slick.
It was a strange mix of excitement, stress, and happiness—but it was also one of the best decisions I’ve made.
Why I care so much about the details
I genuinely love detailing.
I love the chemicals, the research, the testing, and most of all, changing the way a vehicle looks and feels.
I also have a slight problem: I don’t know when to stop.
I’ll finish a job, notice one little thing, and think, “I’ll just take care of that real quick.”
Then another thing.
And another.
Before I know it, I’ve spent way longer on the vehicle than I planned.
I’m still working on that. 😂
But that obsession is also why I take so much pride in my work. I don’t want to simply hand back a vehicle that’s technically “done.” I want the owner to see it and be genuinely excited to drive it again.
I’ve spent years researching and personally testing products and techniques before using them on customers’ vehicles. I’ve also worked with window tint and vehicle wraps, so I’ve always been interested in transforming vehicles in different ways.
Why Hydro Slick?
My original business name was Whitney’s Mobile Detailing. When I decided to build something bigger, I started over with a new name, logo, and brand.
Hydro represents water and the foundation of detailing.
Slick represents the smooth, protected finish I strive to create.
Today, I don’t see this as a temporary job...
I want to build Hydro Slick into something much bigger while never losing the standards that got me here: hard work, continuous learning, and genuine respect for every vehicle I touch.
When I’m not detailing, you’ll probably find me riding motorcycles, shark fishing, or somewhere near a beach or island.
But most days, you’ll find me doing what I’ve become a little obsessed with:
Making vehicles look their absolute best.
Welcome to Hydro Slick.
